We received a letter dated July 21, 2008, informing us that:
the new interim Executive Director to the DC Creative Writing Workshop is Ruth B. Tillett. Ms. Tillett is a graduate of Franklin and Marshall College as well as the University of Maryland School of Law. She recently served as the Interim Executive Director of Heighbors’ Consejo, also in Washington, DC. Prior to that, Ms. Tillett was a Consultant to several nonprofits in the DC metropolitan area.
Nancy Schwalb, the Workshop’s founder, continues to serve as Artistic Director. Dwayne Betts, Senior Writer in Residence has now assumed the title of Program Associate/Senior Writer in Residence.
With the new leadership in place, the DC Creative Writing Workshop is assured of stable continuity as we go into the 2008-2009 school year. Our programs will continue to provide creative writing opportunities for DC public school students as well as enriching their lives with trips to the theater, museums and poetry readings.
